Following on from a sold out show at Koko earlier this month, Willy is due to return to London for two shows at the start of summer.
The first being a solo appearance, reunited with old friends The Felice Brothers, Willy will join them for their Shepherd's Bush Empire show on the 30th May.
He then headlines Bushstock on Saturday 1st June, the annual west London festival presented by Communion.
Hi Everybody! Hope it's all goodish.
Writing you now from the road with some news of our latest experiments…
We are seven shows deep into our UK tour and it's been a real hoot. Last Thursday was at Koko in London and we pulled out most of the stops; Spinal Tap columns and antique future lights. It sounded pretty ok too. Here is a little video of us working like confused ants:
That's about it. Thanks everyone coming out to these shows and making them such a fun time. Yeah Cardiff! Also grateful to Siobhan Wilson and the Mariners Children for being great musicians and spirit movers and for being in the WM touring gang.
If you notice things running more smoothly than in the past its because we all have walkie talkies this time; if you're in a band and you've dreamed of it I'll tell you now it's all its cracked up to be and much cheaper than a foreign phone bill.
That's all for now. Over and out.
Last month, Willy and Brendan Benson got together in Nashville and recorded an EP live to tape at the United Vinyl pressing plant..
The songs, all written by Willy's parents Jemima James and Michael Mason were recorded by a group of musicians which included Nina Violet and The Howlin' Brothers.
The 7 track EP titled 'Upstairs at United volume 7' will be released on April 20th for Record Store day. Check out the video to 'Waiter At The Station' below:
When do you get to dress up like an Ewok Druid and play around in the forest with a giant white horse? When you're shooting a Willy Mason music video apparently. Hope it's as much fun to watch as it was to make.
